In the unified register of notifications of the Eurasian Economic Commission, information has appeared on Gigabyte motherboards focused on working with promising Intel Comet Lake-S processors, which are due to appear on the market in early 2020. The list of boards for which the manufacturer has received notifications includes 35 products based on the not yet announced chipsets H410, B460, Q470, H470 and Z490. Despite the fact that Gigabyte has taken care of obtaining permits for importing documents right now, the Comet Lake-S family of chips, which will receive up to 10 cores, but which will continue to be manufactured using 14-nm technology, should come to the market only after a few months. The processors of this family are expected to have extended thermal package frames up to 125 W and require the use of new motherboards with the LGA 1200 socket, for which, as follows from the list of Gigabyte motherboards, Intel will prepare several sets of system logic of different classes. Therefore, it is not surprising that the range of upcoming Gigabyte boards looks so rich and varied: among other things, the list includes 11 boards on the B460 mass chipset, 12 boards on the budget H410, and 8 boards on the flagship Z490. Moreover, apparently, platforms focused on different price segments are being developed simultaneously. This means that the Comet Lake-S family of processors, which will include representatives of different price categories with different numbers of cores, will conquer the market on a wide front, and this time Intel will abandon the phased announcement of new products, which is very long in time. Nevertheless, such an early appearance of information on the Gigabyte LGA 1200-boards in the ECE base can hardly be regarded as a reflection of Intel's desire to introduce a new platform of the previously established deadlines. At least not one of the other motherboard manufacturers, besides Gigabyte, has yet to attend to receiving notifications for its LGA 1200 products. In other words, we continue to wait for the release of mass 10-core Intel, as planned, at the very beginning of 2020. As it became known, the 400 series logic sets, in addition to supporting the new Intel processor family, will not receive any special advantages compared to their predecessors and will be close in capabilities to the 300 series chipsets. And this means that in order to make their products more attractive, motherboard manufacturers will have to come up with their own moves. And some of them can be seen now. For example, the curious name Z490 WHITE appears in the list of Gigabyte boards, which can be interpreted as the intention of this manufacturer to release the original white board.
