'Authorities are warning drivers to keep their car doors locked after a bear broke into a vehicle, “butt-shifted” it into neutral, and caused it to crash in Colorado last week.According to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office , the “four-legged suspect” managed to open the driver’s side door of an unlocked car on July 4.Once it entered the automobile, the”delinquent” animal became stuck inside when the door accidentally closed behind it, Fox News reported .   However, that wasn’t all for the bear’s “joyride.” The creature then dug through all four doors and reportedly “butt-shifted” the car, causing it to roll back and go off the driveway.Once the vehicle rolled about 100 feet down a hill, it brushed past a tree and was completely damaged. The bear managed to escape the scene by popping a door open and fleeing on foot.According to Colorado Parks & Wildlife , bears love to hang out where there are good food sources, including campgrounds and cars. It’s recommended that you never leave food or garbage where it is easily accessible, secure waste in a bear-proof container, and protect any livestock/beehives in a locked enclosure.Plus, always keep vehicles closed and locked if they’re parked outside in bear country.More on Geek.com: Brown Bear Put Down After It Breaks Into Lodge in Alaska Photographer Captures ‘Best Bear Fight Ever’ in Wild Video Sleepy Black Bear Sneaks Into Montana Home to Take a Nap .
